Bilsington Priory Styled Shoot
Bilsington Priory, Ashford, Kent- Styled Shoot
I recently had the pleasure of attending a beautifully styled shoot set in and around the grounds of Bilsington Priory, a truly atmospheric wedding venue tucked away in the Kent countryside.
Steeped in history, Bilsington Priory is a former Augustinian priory located just outside the village of Bilsington, around five miles south of Ashford. Mentioned in the Domesday Book as being held by Odo of Bayeux, Earl of Kent, the priory was founded in 1253 by John Maunsell with the support of the canons of Merton Priory.
Now lovingly repurposed as a wedding and conference venue, Bilsington Priory overlooks the wide, open landscapes of Romney Marsh. Its ancient stone walls, quiet courtyards and surrounding grounds create a timeless backdrop for couples looking for a venue rich in character and history. For documentary wedding photography, it offers endless opportunities for natural, emotive storytelling, from intimate moments tucked away in secluded corners to sweeping portraits framed by the priory’s striking architecture and expansive views.
