After a year of uncertainty, I was thrilled to end 2020 by shooting Alex & Al's intimate winter wedding. The venue was the gorgeous Down Hall Hotel & Spa near Bishop Stortford, made famous in the opening credits of C4's 'Great British Bake Off', familiar to many. With Lockdown 2.0 (unfortunately) in full swing, numbers were limited to just thirty guests. We started with bridal prep, just a short hop away. Alex took the morning easy, chatting with her bridesmaid, enjoying the odd glass or two of fizz to calm the nerves. A simple socially distanced church ceremony followed, again with limited numbers of just close family. With the ceremony signed & sealed, it was time to greet the remaining family & friends eagerly awaiting the couple outside. After some quick couple photos, it was onto the reception at Down Hall, with its breath-taking chandeliers, elegant grand piano & sweeping red-carpeted entrance. I love historic venues, oozing with character, just so many opportunities for great photographs. As the sun was beginning to set, the couple we were able to sneak out for some more romantic shots, and with their friends gathered around, we were even able to culminate with a sparkler exit!
