Capturing a Contemporary Furniture Installation at Harrods

There's always something exciting about photographing a retail interior, particularly in one of London's most iconic department stores. When I was asked to photograph a new furniture installation for Ligne Roset at Harrods, it was an opportunity I was delighted to take on.

As with many retail photography projects, timing was everything. The shoot had to be completed before the store opened to customers, leaving just a one-hour window to capture the space and furniture collection for use on the Harrods website. With such a tight schedule, preparation and efficiency were essential.

Ligne Roset is renowned for its contemporary furniture and innovative design, combining craftsmanship, comfort and style. The installation showcased a carefully curated collection of pieces, designed to complement the luxury retail environment that Harrods is known for.

The challenge with interior photography is not simply documenting a space but capturing the atmosphere, layout and design details that help customers visualise the products within their own homes. Careful composition, accurate colour reproduction and attention to lighting all play an important role in creating images that are both informative and visually engaging.

Located on the third floor of Harrods, the furniture department is home to some of the world's finest interiors brands. Alongside luxury beds, sumptuous linens and designer home accessories, visitors can explore an extensive collection of contemporary furniture, fabrics and homeware from leading international manufacturers.

Photographing within such a prestigious retail environment requires balancing the wider context of the showroom with detailed product imagery, ensuring the collection is presented in a way that reflects both the quality of the furniture and the luxury surroundings.
